Throughout my life, I’ve always been active. Whether it was playing hockey, running, backpacking, or raising my kids, staying physically engaged was a natural part of who I was. But after I turned 50, things began to change. I started gaining weight, and during an annual physical, I faced a harsh reality: I was at the heaviest I had ever been, and my bloodwork reflected a health trajectory heading in the wrong direction. Seeing this downward spiral, I knew I needed to take action. As a scientist, I naturally turned to research, diving deep into studies on nutrition, exercise, and fitness. What I discovered was both eye-opening and life-changing. I began to craft a new approach to my health, focusing on a path that would lead me to longevity fitness training, a concept that prioritizes not just staying fit, but staying strong and healthy for the long haul.

I worked with various personal trainers to refine my approach, but it quickly became clear that many were not equipped to effectively coach older adults. This realization, coupled with my early experiences with injuries, drove me to take matters into my own hands. I earned certifications in personal training, strength and conditioning, and senior fitness, determined to create a program that truly addressed the needs of people like me.

One of the most critical lessons I learned along the way was the value of health and fitness assessments and the early detection of potential problems. It was during one of these assessments that I discovered I had osteopenia, a condition that often goes undetected in men my age due to a lack of routine monitoring. This diagnosis only reinforced the importance of incorporating fitness, stability, and strength training into my routine as a means to reverse the effects of this chronic bone disease.

Through my personal journey, I developed a longevity fitness strategy that integrated nutrition, exercise, and stability training. I applied these principles to my own life, shedding over thirty pounds of body fat in just a few months, gaining muscle mass, improving strength, and enhancing my stability and flexibility. What began as a panicked response to my declining health evolved into a transformative journey, leading me to a second career in fitness coaching.

Encouraged by the success stories of friends and family who overcame their own health challenges with my guidance, I founded Longevity Fitness Coaching. My mission is to help others achieve their goals of living longer, happier, and healthier lives. I’m here to share the knowledge and experience I’ve gained on my journey, so you too can enjoy the benefits of a fit, strong, and vibrant life.
